As part of my curiosity of exploring into Metaverse, I came across a platform called “Decentraland”. It provides both free and paid access to the virtual platform.
In this blog, I am sharing my own experience of accessing Decentraland Metaverse platform as a Guest user. It doesn’t cost anything and not require VR headsets.

What is Decentraland platform?
Decentraland is a 3D virtual world browser-based platform. Users may buy virtual plots of land in the platform as NFTs via the MANA cryptocurrency, which uses the Ethereum blockchain. It was opened to the public in February 2020.
Furthermore, this platform has good 3d models, colours and sites in Metaverse.
How to access Free Metaverse within Decentraland?
Steps to access Decentraland virtual place,
- Open play.decntraland.org
- You will get 2 options – 1. “Play using your wallet”, 2. “Play as Guest”
- Click on the second option “Play as Guest”
- As this is a 3d enabled virtual world, it has so many graphics and settings to load. Hence, it may take few seconds to load depending upon the configuration of the system that you are using to access the metaverse.
- Once, all the loading is done, you will be shown your and avatar.

What are the main activities that can be done in the free access?
One you enter into Metaverse, below are the few key activities that can be done –
- View other nearby real people who are live into Metaverse
- Chat with other Avatars (sticker to represent real people in the Metaverse)
- Talk with others
- Manage navigation. As there are multiple Metalands within this Metaverse, you will be able to enter into any Metaland and meet people over there. Few Metalands will have the nice NFT collections as well which are ready for purchase.
- Manage your profile
- Use the map to navigate around in different Metalands
- Use EMOTES – Emotes are the physical expressions that we use for others. Such as waving you hand to someone or blowing a flying kiss 😊

How to manage the user profile in this Metaverse
Managing your profile in Decentraland is very easy as it provides an interactive and simple interface.
It allows a user to manage their avatar by provide options to select –
Body, Head, Top, Bottom, Footwear, Accessories.
It not only provides different attires but differ colour options for body as well.
There are 2 options – Skins and Collectibles which are reserved for premium users and not available within guest access.
In the below image these are the other settings to manage profile in Decentraland. These allows to manage the graphics quality, resolution and other features.
